Favorites from Germany
Merry Christmas everyone -
Here are some favorites from the trip to Germany. The first several are from the Zugspitze. The following images are from sites and cities in the areas surrounding Bavaria.
Getting ready for the holiday
Ingrid and I are busy trying to get settled in after our trip and getting ready for Christmas so forgive us for not having more on the trip up just yet.
Ingrid posted some Santa stuff on her blog: The Outlet. We will get to work on the video and stills in the next few days, but for now, this is a shot of Ingrid in a gondola on her way to the top of the Zugspitze.
Take care.

First pics from Germany
We’ve been out of the loop for the last few days in Garmish. While there is much to say…I’ll take a pass for tonight as I am tired.
I’ll get back in the swing in a day or so but until the, here are two pics from today.
The first is of Neuschwanstein, a castle in Bavaria as seen from down the hill.

The second image is of Ingrid and I, along with Ingrid’s father Cal and her long-time-friend Anna Moody, after we made the long walk up the hill. We haven’t been able to go to the Y in the last few days, so the walk was needed.

More soon.

In Frankfurt…with hats
We made it to Frankfurt after about 15-hours of flying. The international flight was comfy enough and we both got to close our eyes for a while. We are waiting at the airport for Cal’s flight. Then we’ll rent a car and head to Gelnhausen to meet Rachel.
More soon.

A local blacksmith and my neck
Ingrid and I spent part of a day this week with Darryl Nelson. Darryl is a local blacksmith who has been doing the job for more than 30 years. It is the only job he has ever had and he really seems to love it.
This video is important in our lives because it is the first full-production piece I’ve produced since the surgery in October!
Ingrid recorded most of the audio using a make-shift boom pole and a shotgun mic. Sounds great to me.
Meet Darryl:

And the video:
We are spending the next two days preparing for our trip and trying to get our Christmas stuff in order. If the card is late…sorry about that. We love and miss you all…but just ran out of time to get the cards all finished before we leave Sunday morning.
Cal is coming over Saturday night just in case the snow closes the pass. So, we should all be on our way by Sunday after noon.
Going to Germany
As we get ready for our trip to Germany I wanted to find out more about where we once lived in Munich. My Dad called tonight and told me the street name and our friends at Google Maps did the rest.
Here are some photos of what I think was our place in Germany…almost 30 years ago.

Best guess is that the theater is the blue building at the top-left. And our building is at the bottom-right.

I’m pretty sure I remember playing in those trees with DJ. This is going to be a cool trip!
P.s. Does this Mustang stature ring a bell with anyone?

laundry and laughs
Ingrid and I were doing laundry today. One thing led to another and we decided to try on some shorts. Now, we tried this a while ago with one of my shirts, so this may be getting old for you guys. These are the shorts I was wearing to the Y when we started going almost 60-lbs. ago. This won’t be getting old to me for a while. ![]()

Home and working
So Ingrid is finishing her last big paper for the quarter and we are getting ready for our trip to Germany for Rachel’s wedding in a few days. I’m working night still so I’m home in the days. Ingrid starts classes the first week in January so this will be her only time off for a while. We are planning a holiday open house the week between Christmas and New Years… date still to be determined.
We are also looking in to going to the opening night of A Christmas Carol at The Lakewood Playhouse Friday… if anyone is interested in joining us, give a call. I think there are five of us for sure so far.
